The Pinellas Chapter awards grants to organizations for projects which support the FNPS mission. These include educational gardens and landscapes, restoration of native habitat and conservation projects. Schools, neighborhood associations and non-profits may apply. Grants are not available for private business or residential landscapes.

Project funds for landscapes may be used to purchase Florida native plants only, no exotics. Projects must have a plan in place to provide irrigation during establishment and ongoing maintenance (weeding, pruning, plant replacement, etc.)

Whether or not they are purchased with chapter funds, no plants used in the project may be on the FLEPPC list of exotic invasive plants, and no cypress mulch may be used.

Examples of projects eligible for funding:

•    Creating a community or public wildlife garden
•    Removing invasive species and replacing them with Florida native plants
•    Enhancing a clubhouse, business, or non-profit entryway with Florida native plants
•    Enhancing a public building or public space with Florida native plants
•    Planting native habitat around retention ponds
•    Adding native plants to preservation areas

By submitting an application you, and your organization, agree to submit a brief Final Report upon completion of the project detailing 1) how the funds were spent, 2) what goals and outcomes were accomplished, 3) what lessons were learned, 4) photos of the project to be used in a newsletter/social media article.
